- 12 Cipollini Onions
- 1 cup Buttermilk (or whole milk mixed with vinegar)
- 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1 tablespoon Spice Mix (Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Smoked Paprika, Dry Mustard, Salt, Black Pepper)
- 4 cups Vegetable or Canola Oil
Instructions
- Peel the Cipollini onions, keeping them intact at the root end.
- Soak the onions in buttermilk for about 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix the flour with the spice blend.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Coat each onion in flour after soaking and fry until golden brown (about 3-5 minutes).
- Drain excess oil on paper towels and serve warm with ranch dip.
