  1. Heat vegetable oil and butter in a heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion until translucent.
  2. Add minced garlic and grated ginger; stir for about 2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Incorporate spices: ground coriander, garam masala, turmeric, and chili powder. Cook for another minute.
  4. Add chicken pieces and stir until coated in the spice mixture; brown on all sides.
