Ingredients
- 3–4 lb beef brisket
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 onion
- 4 cloves garlic
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp chili powder (optional)
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp butter
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp beef drippings
Instructions
- 1. Season the brisket with olive oil and spices; let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- 2. Sear the brisket in a skillet over medium-high heat until browned on both sides.
- 3. Transfer the brisket to a slow cooker or roasting pan; add sliced onions and minced garlic.
- 4. Mix together beef broth, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and brown sugar; pour over brisket.
- 5. Cook on low in a slow cooker for about 8 hours or in the oven at 300°F (150°C) for 5-6 hours until tender.
- 6. Remove brisket and create a glaze using butter, brown sugar, and drippings; simmer until thickened.
- 7. Shred the brisket and drizzle with glaze before serving.
