Ingredients
- 2 pounds Yukon gold potatoes, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the heavy cream, milk, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg. Heat until warm but do not boil.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish and pour half of the cream mixture over them.
- Sprinkle half of the cheddar and Parmesan cheese over the first layer.
- Repeat with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheese.
- Dot the top with butter pieces. Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
