  • Total Time: 1 hour
  • Yield: About 12 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup browned butter
  • 1 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 cups peeled and chopped apples
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 6 oz room temperature cream cheese
  • 1/2 stick room temperature butter
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until it turns golden brown. Remove it from heat and let it cool slightly. In the same saucepan, sauté the peeled and chopped apples in one tablespoon of butter along with 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon for about 10 minutes or until tender. Allow them to cool completely before using.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the browned butter and brown sugar until well combined. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract. In another bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Gradually add this dry mixture into the wet mixture until just combined. Gently fold in the cooled caramelized apples.
  3. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour the batter into a prepared baking pan (8×8 or 9×9 inches) lined with parchment paper. Bake for about 35-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Once baked, allow them to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  4. In a mixing bowl, beat together room temperature cream cheese and half a stick of room temperature butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, cinnamon, and maple syrup while continuing to beat until light and fluffy.
  5. Once your blondies have cooled completely, evenly spread the cream cheese frosting over the top. Slice into squares to serve. Enjoy your delicious Cinnamon Blondies with Caramelized Apples!
