  • 400 g dried figs
  • 1 cup water
  • 170 g cream cheese
  • 40 g granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, brown sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish and press the base mixture evenly into the bottom.
  4. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine dried figs, water, granulated sugar, and lemon juice; simmer for about 10 minutes until soft.
  5. In another bowl, beat together cream cheese, vanilla extract, egg, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  6. Spread the fig mixture over the base layer followed by pouring the cream cheese mixture on top.
  7. Bake for approximately 30 minutes until set and lightly golden.
  8. Allow cooling completely before slicing into squares.
