- 170 g all-purpose flour
- 80 g brown sugar
- 90 g cold unsalted butter
- 400 g dried figs
- 1 cup water
- 170 g cream cheese
- 40 g granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 3 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, brown sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish and press the base mixture evenly into the bottom.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine dried figs, water, granulated sugar, and lemon juice; simmer for about 10 minutes until soft.
- In another bowl, beat together cream cheese, vanilla extract, egg, and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Spread the fig mixture over the base layer followed by pouring the cream cheese mixture on top.
- Bake for approximately 30 minutes until set and lightly golden.
- Allow cooling completely before slicing into squares.
