  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 2 teaspoons alcohol-free vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar for coating
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg for coating

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream softened butter and sugar until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla; mix until combined.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar and nutmeg for the coating.
  6. Scoop dough into balls, roll in the sugar-nutmeg mixture, and place on prepared sheets.
  7. Bake for 9–12 minutes until tops are set; cool on sheets for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
