- 3 cups all-purpose flour

- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 large egg yolks
- 2 teaspoons alcohol-free vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar for coating
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg for coating
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream softened butter and sugar until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla; mix until combined.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.
- In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar and nutmeg for the coating.
- Scoop dough into balls, roll in the sugar-nutmeg mixture, and place on prepared sheets.
- Bake for 9–12 minutes until tops are set; cool on sheets for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
