- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 6 oz almond paste
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, beaten (divided)
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place the thawed puff pastry on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a mixing bowl, combine almond paste, softened butter, granulated sugar, and half of the beaten egg until smooth.
- Spread the almond filling down the center third of the pastry. Cut diagonal strips on both sides and fold them over the filling in an alternating pattern.
- Brush the top with remaining beaten egg and sprinkle with sliced almonds.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
- Cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar.
