Ingredients
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 large egg (beaten)
- 1 cup unsulphured molasses
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup very hot water
- Bananas (for topping)
- Fresh whipped cream (for topping)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13'' pan with cooking spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together granulated sugar and butter until smooth.
- Add the beaten egg and molasses; mix until well combined.
- In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, spices, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
- Slowly stir in very hot water until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Serve warm topped with sliced bananas, whipped cream, and drizzled vanilla cream sauce.
