  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 100 g semisweet chocolate (melted and cooled)
  • 1 tsp orange zest (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing and flouring them.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, vegetable oil, orange juice, hot coffee, orange zest, and vanilla extract. Mix until just combined using an electric mixer.
  4. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  5. Cool the cakes in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  6. For frosting, beat butter until creamy; gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder followed by melted chocolate and orange zest until smooth.
