Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 8 oz cremini mushrooms, diced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- 6–8 tbsp cold water
Instructions
- Prepare the filling: Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Sauté onions and garlic until fragrant. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Stir in mushrooms and cook until softened. Pour in beef broth, thyme, salt, and pepper; let simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Make the crust: In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Mix in cubed butter until crumbly. Gradually add cold water until dough forms. Divide into two balls, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Assemble the pie: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out one dough ball to fit your baking dish; fill with meat mixture. Roll out the second dough ball to cover the filling; seal edges well.
- Bake: Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape and bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
