- 1 package of puff pastry (2 sheets, thawed)
- Optional: ½ cup grated cheese, 1 tablespoon mustard
Instructions
- Caramelize the onions: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions with a pinch of salt. Cook slowly for about 15-20 minutes until golden brown and sweet. Let cool.
- Prepare the filling: In a bowl, combine ground meat with cooled onions, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix in cheese and mustard if desired.
- Preheat oven: Set oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Assemble the rolls: Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface; cut into rectangles (approx. 4×6 inches). Place filling on each piece, fold over, seal edges with a fork, and brush tops with beaten egg.
- Bake: Place rolls on the baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
