Ingredients

  • flour
  • butter
  • sugar
  • yeast
  • milk
  • egg
  • salt
  • raspberry jam
  • custard (milk, sugar, egg yolks, vanilla extract, cornstarch)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Melt butter and mix it with milk; allow to cool slightly before adding to the dry ingredients along with the egg.
  3. Knead until smooth and elastic; let it proof until doubled in size.
  4. For the custard: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine milk, sugar, egg yolks, vanilla extract, and cornstarch. Stir continuously until thickened; remove from heat and let cool.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about half an inch thick and cut into circles or squares.
  6. Place custard in each center followed by a dollop of raspberry jam.
  7. Preheat oven to 200°C (392°F). Bake buns on a lined baking sheet for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
