- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry (thawed)
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven according to the puff pastry package instructions. Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a floured surface, place it on a baking sheet, and prick with a fork. Bake until golden brown and cool completely.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine whole milk and sugar until dissolved. In another bowl, whisk together cornstarch and egg yolks until smooth. Gradually add warm milk to temper the yolks, then return to the saucepan. Cook while stirring until thickened; remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
- Pour the cooled custard over the baked pastry and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set.
- Whip heavy cream until soft peaks form and spread it over the custard layer before serving.
