Instructions
- Activate the yeast by combining warm milk and yeast in a bowl; let sit until frothy.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk flour, sugar, and salt. Create a well and add the yeast mixture, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla; stir until sticky dough forms.
- Knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (1-1.5 hours).
- Roll out the risen dough to ½-inch thickness and cut into squares.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C) and fry beignets in batches until golden brown on both sides.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels; dust with powdered sugar before serving.
