  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 14 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apple Filling: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add apples, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, water, and salt. Cook for 5-7 minutes until apples soften slightly; remove from heat.
  2. Make the Oatmeal Base: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.
  3. Assemble the Bars: Press half of the oatmeal mixture into a greased baking dish. Spread apple filling on top and crumble remaining oatmeal mixture over it.
  4. Bake: Bake for about 50 minutes until golden brown. Cool before slicing into bars.
