- 1 box German chocolate cake mix
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 bag Kraft caramels
- 1 stick butter
- 1/4 cup evaporated milk
- 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup pecans
- 16-ounce can chocolate frosting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Prepare the cake mix according to package directions using eggs, vegetable oil, and water. Mix until well combined.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 15 minutes until slightly set.
- While baking, melt together caramels, butter, and evaporated milk in a medium saucepan over medium heat until smooth.
- Remove the baked layer from the oven, pour the caramel mixture evenly over it, then sprinkle with chocolate chips and pecans.
- Pour the remaining batter over the toppings and bake for an additional 20 minutes or until set.
- Allow cooling completely before frosting with chocolate frosting.
