- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 cup light brown sugar (packed)
- 8 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk (2% or whole preferred)
- 1 to 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 pound French bread (diced into cubes)
- Optional: caramel or maple syrup for serving
Instructions
- Spray a 9×13-inch casserole dish with cooking spray and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, mix melted butter and brown sugar until combined; scatter evenly across the bottom of the prepared dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, ground ginger, and salt until fully mixed.
- Gently toss diced bread in the egg mixture until all pieces are coated.
- Transfer the bread mixture to the casserole dish, cover, and refrigerate for at least one hour or overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake uncovered for about 25–30 minutes until bubbly and lightly browned on top.
- Carefully invert onto a serving platter and drizzle with optional caramel or maple syrup before serving.
