Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 2 to 3 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 6 ounces cream cheese
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- cinnamon (for garnishing)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line an 8-by-8-inch baking pan with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Let it cool slightly before whisking in the egg, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth.
- Stir in the flour and salt until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth out the top. Bake for 20 to 24 minutes or until set; a toothpick should come out clean.
- Allow cooling on a wire rack for at least 90 minutes before frosting.
- For the frosting, beat together cream cheese, softened butter, confectioners' sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until light and fluffy.
- Spread frosting over cooled bars and garnish with cinnamon. Slice into squares and serve.
