Ingredients
- 500g all-purpose flour
- 50g sugar
- 10g salt
- 10g dry yeast
- 250ml warm water
- 250g unsalted butter, chilled
- 1 egg (for brushing)
- Powdered sugar (optional for dusting)
Instructions
- Mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a bowl. Gradually add warm water and knead until smooth.
- Shape into a ball, cover with cloth, and let rise for an hour.
- Flatten chilled butter between parchment paper into a rectangle and refrigerate.
- Roll out dough into a larger rectangle and encase the butter. Fold and roll several times to create layers.
- Cut into triangles, shape into croissants, and let rise again.
- Brush with egg wash and bake at 200°C (392°F) for 15-20 minutes until golden.
