- 1 loaf sweet bread (brioche or challah)
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 8 ounces cream cheese, chilled and cubed
- 1½ cups dark chocolate chunks
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Tear the sweet bread into pieces and spread evenly in the baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the custard mixture over the bread, gently pressing down to ensure all pieces are soaked. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes or refrigerate overnight.
- Stir in the cubed cream cheese and one cup of dark chocolate chunks.
- Sprinkle the remaining chocolate on top and bake for 45-55 minutes until golden brown and slightly jiggly in the center.
- Allow to cool for 15-20 minutes before serving warm.
