  • 2 cups diced apple (about 2 apples)
  • 2 cups sliced sweet potatoes
  • 2 cups sliced carrots
  • 3 cups crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can kidney beans (optional)
  • 1 Tbs olive oil
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp salt (divided)
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp rubbed sage (divided)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • a sprinkle nutmeg
  • 3 Tbs tomato paste
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 2 cups strained tomatoes (or marinara sauce)

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Sauté the diced apples, sweet potatoes, and carrots with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, sage, cinnamon, and nutmeg for about 5 minutes.
  3. Add ground turkey and cook until no longer pink (5-7 minutes).
  4. Stir in tomato paste, chili powder, additional sage, and salt.
  5. Add crushed tomatoes and mix well.
  6. Let simmer on low-medium heat for 20-30 minutes; add kidney beans towards the end if using.
